School Mission Statement/Capable Learner
Our school mission statement forms the basis of all decisions made by the school. Our first question in all we do is always “what impact does this have on our students?”
Over the term our year 6 leaders have led the teaching of our school dispositions on parade. It is great seeing them explain them in student friendly language. Throughout the term we are seeing our students build on and use these dispositions in class and the playground.
Holiday Wishes
For those who celebrate have a wonderful Easter and may you all enjoy a nice break from the school routines. See you all on Monday 15 April for the start of term 2.

Embracing Social and Emotional Learning From Buzz to Impact
Parent information sessions – Foundations of connected families
A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us for our very first information session on supporting social and emotional learning (SEL). We are grateful to have so many families actively involved in wanting the very best for their children.
To support academics, engagement and wellbeing, and culture and inclusion, we have three areas of SEL working together at Thangool SS. When all three work together we have greatest impact.
Three phases of our SEL program at Thangool SS
- 2021/22 - Student SEL programs
- 2023 - Staff SEL professional development
- 2024 - Parent SEL information sessions
During our session, we offered information on:
- Understanding how the brain evolves and processes emotions
- Recognizing the cognitive and emotional processes, to foster resilience, empathy, and self-regulation in our children.
- Significance of connection and active listening
The evidence is clear when educators and families are working together to support the development of emotional intelligence, the impact on student learning and wellbeing is greatly increased.
Looking ahead, we're excited to continue this journey of learning and growth with you.
Lock in Thursday 23rd May for our next parent information session.
