By consistently emphasising our school rules, dispositions, values and holding high expectations, we ensure that all students are kept safe and are able to learn to the best of their ability. Our capable learner is built on key foundations and surround by ensuring we are inclusive, focus on wellbeing and provide feedback using our language of good, better, how. Please consider discussing our capable learner with your child/ren at home.
Term 3 brings a range of learning experiences for our students along with a variety of other activities such as: PC athletics, School Opinion Survey, Callide-Dawson Speaking competition, Tennis and Cricket competition, Biloela Netball Carnival, Project Club Day, Book week, parent/teacher interviews. Attendance - Every Day Counts!
Our school target is 94%. We are currently sitting at 89.5%. The importance of students attending school can’t be underestimated. Not only it is vital for their learning but it also is important for the development of friendships and feeling like they belong. If you are going to be away for an extended period of time then you need to notify the office so you can be given a form that needs to be completed to explain your child’s absence.
School Opinion Survey
The annual suite of School Opinion Surveys will be conducted 15th July to 16th August 2024. All families, school staff and students in target year levels will be invited to participate. We encourage you to take this opportunity to have your say about what our school does well, and how we can improve. The Department of Education will commence sending email invitations to participants in the second week of term 3. Check your junk email folders if you can’t find it.

What does ‘being literate’ look like?
Being literate means possessing the ability to read, write, and comprehend information effectively. It involves understanding and using written language to communicate, interpret, and engage with the world around you. Literacy enables individuals to acquire knowledge, solve problems, and participate fully in society. It encompasses not just basic reading and writing skills, but also the capacity to analyse texts, think critically, and convey ideas clearly. In today’s digital age, literacy extends to navigating online content and using technology proficiently. Ultimately, literacy empowers people to make informed decisions and enhances their personal and professional lives.
You can support your child to develop their literacy skills through reading every night and working on your child’s reading goal.
Playgroup
TSS Playgroup continues for Term 3. Attending a playgroup offers numerous benefits, including socialisation for the children (and parents), opportunities for your child to develop their language and motor skills, as well as their creativity through play. Playgroup provides a supportive environment for parents to connect and share experiences. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, 31st July.
SEL News
Impact Coach Update
What’s happening in SEL?
This term promises to be an action-packed and enriching experience for our students as we continue to emphasize the importance of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
SEL is crucial for our students' development. It helps them build the skills necessary for effective communication, empathy, and confidence. These skills are not only essential for their personal growth but also for fostering a positive school environment and it takes work.
Focused Groups for SEL
This term, we are running focused groups to help build confidence, effective communication, and empathy. We will be connecting in with the Moving Moments program again to help our students focus on what we can give rather than what we can get. We will also be delivering hampers for the less fortunate.
Year 6 Leadership Activities
Our Year 6 students will be actively involved in delivering our weekly dispositions, sharing sports news, and planning an exciting event. These activities are designed to develop their confidence and teamwork skills, with an emphasis on clear communication and organization. Keep an eye out for our come dressed as a staff member event this term.
We are also introducing a new program for our Year 1 students centred around kindness. This program includes engaging lessons that teach young students the importance of kindness and empathy, helping them to develop a strong foundation in SEL from an early age.

We have two amazing opportunities for our Parents to attend workshops to support your children. Please see the flyers attached:
